The core job
Matteson Solar Panel Removal and Reinstallation, Done in Order
Documented before it moves, stored while the roof is replaced and put back on new flashing with its output checked before we call it done.
What a Detach and Reset Really Involves
Here is the honest version. Taking solar off a roof is not hard. Taking it off so that it goes back exactly the same, over shingles that shed water, with a system that still produces what it did before, takes a process. Solar Panel Removal Matteson follows the same one on every house. Before anything is loosened we shoot pictures of the panels, their arrangement and the wire runs and log a production reading. Then the system is shut down safely and disconnected. Then the modules, rails and conduit are lifted down. Each panel gets a tag that matches its spot on a written inventory. The equipment goes into storage, protected from knocks and weather, while the old roof is torn off and a new one goes on. When the new shingles are down we come back. Fresh mounts. New flashing at every penetration. Panels back in their tagged positions. Wiring reconnected. Then the part people skip: we test the system and compare it with the reading from before. You get photos, the inventory and the numbers. Matteson homeowners usually call once the roofer has a date, which is the right time.
Everything in the Scope
Nothing hidden. Each of these shows up on your quote as its own line.
Before photos and a reading
The array, layout and wiring documented, plus the system's output, before removal.
Correct shutdown
Powering down and disconnecting in the right sequence, before hands go on hardware.
Removal of modules and racking
Panels, rails, clamps and conduit lifted off without dragging across the shingles.
Tagging and inventory
A tag on each panel tied to a written list of positions and parts.
Storage through the reroof
Equipment kept protected from impact and moisture until the roof is finished.
Fresh attachments
New mounts with new flashing at every roof penetration.
Reinstall and reconnect
Panels back where they came from, wiring rejoined, monitoring restored.
Output comparison
The reinstalled system checked against its pre-removal reading.
Three Visits' Worth of Work, Explained
Assess and quote
We inspect the array and the roof, take the photos and the reading, and give you one firm number by phone, usually inside 48 hours. Then we set the detach date off your roofer's start.
Take it down
Shutdown, disconnection, removal, tagging and storage, all on one visit before tear-off. Your roofer arrives to a roof with nothing on it.
Put it back and prove it
Once the roof is done, the attachments are replaced and reflashed, the modules are rehung and rewired, and the output is compared with the before reading. Then you get the paperwork.
What You Can Count On
Evidence, not assurances
Photos and readings from before and after, so you can see the system came back whole.
No mystery parts
A written inventory means every module and clamp is accounted for at reset.
Honest limits
If something about your roof or system is outside what we do, we say so on the first call.
- Photos before removal
- Tagged inventory
- Fresh flashing every mount
- Output compared after

The detach needs to happen before tear-off. Share the module count and the roofer's date, and a firm figure plus a schedule comes back.
